Celebrity chef delivers powerful message

Michael with Food Safety Lecturer Jillian Webster
UCLan Hospitality and Events undergraduates recently took part in an Alcohol and Drug awareness session.

Michael Quinn, representing Hospitality Action and Ark Global, delivered a powerful and inspiring talk to the students supported by a mix of alarming statistics.

As the former head chef of the five-star Ritz Hotel in London, Michael achieved fame and fortune during the 1980s. By the end of the decade he was a homeless alcoholic, sleeping rough or in Salvation Army hostels.

Using his own life story, Michael asked students to appreciate the opportunities they have and encouraged them to use them wisely.

UCLan Hospitality would like to thank Michael for the session and we hope to be able to do similar events for our students in the future. For more details about Michael's life and his Ark Global project, please click here
